In the las period we concentrated on spam and we want to diminuate that as much as posible:

1) Our first step was to look manualy on all forums and delete all that contain spam. Problem solved with alot of effort.
2)Step two was to find a method to deny 80% or more of spam posting to help admins of the forums in their job to keep forums clean. Problem solved ! And if somebody have problems with posting, please let me know.
3)We have created a easy way to manage the users and delete spam users more easy and fast.
4)We wait phpBB 3 that it is completly different on coding and after that we will add more tools to help admins of the forums on fight against spam. Anyone who have a good idea how to prevent spam better than it is now, please give me a private message.

I actually voted wrongly on the poll, although I am not getting any spam posts on my forum (because I am quick to delete spammers when they join) I am still getting the same number of spammers registering.

Yes, spammers are accepted to register, because i did not have found a way to deny that. In future i will try to reduce automaticaly registered spammers.

Spam posts are reduced now compared with what was before.

Until then you can ban some domains of the e-mails used by spamers in general

From today the number of registered spammers will be lower i think !

Hello Site Admin.

I am an admin of the forum lrc.free-forums.org.

In the past year or so, we were regularly receiving spam account registrations of around 5 to 15 registrations per day. This was despite us doing everything available to prevent this from happening.

However, I am now extremely happy to report, that since the date of your post above, we have NOT received a single spam account registration! (Thats around 10 days and still counting.)

It seems quite clear to me that whatever you have done, it has worked!

Yeap, seems that this time it worked . I think i am the only forum hosting that really prevent spam even from registration.

Anyway maybe 5% of spammers pass this filter too, it is not so easy to "see" who will be spammer and who will not be spammer from the beginning. Do not worry, real persons can register normally as before.

As i said few months ago, fighting against spam will be my priority and now forums will be more clean !

I hate spam !

Yes either you or I have done something good. The number of unwanted registrants are down!

With the user list interface I made easy note of banning broadly with wildcards before deleting the phishers and spammers.

I'll PM you on who is getting through, though I suspect you probably know.
