Can I upgrade my forum (pay for it) so that no ads appear?

Admin very rarely visit, but some people are luck enough to get the odd answer from other users.

Sorry, I don't know, I know you can with some and not with others but I don't think you can with free-forums as they like the income they get off the adds which I guess is more then they would get for selling the service to customers

Is there any way to control what kinds of ads are seen on our forums? There some some that I would consider inappropriate popping up on mine.

I never used pup-up ads, so, I do not know how on your forum did you see pop-up ads. If you refer of Google Adsense ads, they are displayed by content of your site and nobody has control of what is displayed. If your forum is new, in time you will se more targeted on content ads (google said that)
