IP addresses

Postby Calibrid on Mon Sep 04, 2006 1:39 pm

Hi,

I'm sure this is obvious but I can't seem to find the right spot in the admin panel to deal with it so ...

How do I disable IP addresses of posting members being shown publically?

Thanks.

Do support staff even read this forum? I've had this posted for quite some time now.

No I don't think they do, and as my forum is being innundated with illegal porn and no one is helping me here, Im considering contacting authorities.

wow. I've had the same problems as both of you. Under the admin panel sub section User Control or whatever there's a spot called Ban Control. Under this you can ban usernames, email addresses, and I.P. addresses. Unfortunately there is no way to actually obtain the I.P. address of a user (that I've found) unless they're online at the same time you are.

I've had a user advertising porn on my site and have repeatedly erased the user but she keeps creating new accounts with different usernames and email addresses. I have activated the account verification, but I'd really like to block her permanetly.

So yeah I know how you feel. I'll post here if I figure it out or get an answer to my inquirey.

You can get the IP addresses from the messages themselves. At the top-right of the post there are several buttons, depending on what privileges you have. Most users will just have a Quote button, but as admin you should have Quote, Edit, Delete & IP. Just click that IP button and you'll get a page showing the IP address from which the post was sent, as well as any other IP addresses that user has posted from.

Hope this helps. :D
