Hi,
Is there a quicker way i can delete thousands of members (non posting/spam) on my forum without having to do one by one as that takes for ever?
Cheers

nope
You can ban them (but not all at the same time) ! I see no real use of mass deleting users (it is imposble to do one time delete all users that spam the forum because you can't see all users posting spam in same day). _________________ Setup your FREE FORUM now !

here is an example I hope the owners may understand when one may need to delete hundreds of users.
You have a group of people maybe only about 2-400 who you want discussing topics in your forum. (ie a church, a group of employees, a neighborhood association) You as the administrator and many of the participants may personally know all of these people. You've set up the forum so you can effectively discuss topics over time, without having many many meetings, and hopefully get your groups agenda written down.
Now that your forum has been set up you should want your participants to PERCEIVE your site as safe. (from spammers, phisher etc.) After reading a few post, I see the need to advise my members to use mozilla firefox as their browser.
I require my registrants to use firstlast name as their username. If someone registers as NatureBoy some of my constituents would freak out.
So I could imagine other administrators may be in agreement. If someone's forum is getting hammered with mal registrants, they'll need a tool to clean house quickly. |

went through the banning process. still had to go to the management sctreen also to delete the unwanted member. is there any way that the banning and management interfaces be combined? rather ornerous to go through the process, and again can we stop these guys from posting their websites. that and the members emails are probably the only reason they are trolling the forum.
Finally had my first repeat registrant. |

You can't stop them, it is imposible , no forum until now found a solution to do that. The only thing that you can do right now is to ban them. And I tell you why banning is more eficient than deleting.
This members that post spam are bots, and they will automaticaly register, if is is banned he can acces your forum and can't re-register again with the same mail or user, but if you delete that member it is a bigger chance to get him back as soon as posible. So, understand that banning is a little more eficient than deleting.
A......you have http://ballparkvendors.free-forums.org/ with only 23 members and you have problems ??? This support forum has over 13.600 members (90% spammers I think ) and I have no problems with spam. _________________ Setup your FREE FORUM now !

thanks for minimalizing my concerns. Most realize that this is a free forum and those involved in its management are doing the best they can.
I'm just trying to give imput to make the forum support better.
Moving forward towards that endeavor. I would suggest check boxes within the memberlist for quick banning.
BTW, do you write the program for the forum? |

some things I write myself, some no, I will take from internet (free or buy), and some I will adapt for what I want to do. checkbox is not a very good idea, because some mad admin (some forums have many admins) can delete all members in one minute and you can't do anything about that.
Most important I want to make a report to moderator button on forums to users report spam. But it is dificult to implement on this multiforums system, works fine on fingle forum domain, but here is other thing, i had a post today on this matter. I will try to find a solution for that. That thing is more more important than deleting all members by one click.

I'm back to ask support to again consider a simplified banning method.
As you know the interface to ban doesn't include the interface to delete. Many of the bots change their emails and I would imagine many use dynamic IPs. So banning under the current interface is not user friendly and likely not that effective. Am I missing something?
I've chosen to delete members and tried to ban the repeat offenders though ones like "site" keep changing their email and IPs.
The spammers goal seems to be to post their web page. Would you consider setting up in our administration panel to disallow showing member websites in their profiles much like we can disallow avatars and other things members can do?
What other goals do you think they spammers have as far as registering? Take it away from them! |

hi !
I hate spam, but if if, i can make modification to even ban site -> they have a full list of new sites to register. This is not a problem.
A......most of them are programs, not humans, and have full lists of ip's, mails, sites, and random ID's. It is imposible to ban them. Even with coppa they found many way to avoid that thing.
if a person can register, a spammer can register it is imposible to make restrictions to that !
