I think the part before that is the sub domain.
Ex: subdomain.free-forum.org

I don't think you can change it, but
Make a post telling all your users that you will be changing to a new place
take note of all your settings and stuff
make a new forum
let your other forum sit for 30 days so it will die

Thats the best advice I can offer. I'm sure support will be more helpful.
